16 students earn International Baccalaureate diplomas
Cheshire Academy has announced 16 recent graduates earned their International Baccalaureate diplomas.
The IB Diploma Programme is an academically challenging and balanced programme of education with final examinations that prepares students, aged 16 to 19, for success at university and life beyond, according to the IB organization. It has been designed to address the intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being of students.
The Class of 2018 IB diploma recipients are: Dechan Choden (Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine); Kate Davis (Providence); Gianna DiMarino (Lehigh University); Maggie Guarino-Trier (Skidmore College); Anastasia Gudkova (New York University); Ella Hampson (University of Tampa); James Hastie (Lafayette); Mia Leko (Dartmouth); Tara Lynch (Ithaca); Jan Parizek (Fairfield); Des Parker (Howard University); Nadya Ponthempilly (UConn Honors Program); Julia Rafferty (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill); Samantha Weed (Washington and Lee University); Alexa Williamson (George Washington University); Shuqi Zheng (Wake Forest).
The following students earned 7s or As -- perfect scores -- on IB exams: Richard Yang (French AB initio, 7); James Hastie (Spanish SL, 7; Chemistry HL, 7; Chemistry Extended Essay, A; Theory of Knowledge, A).
Richard Yang also earned the AP Scholar with Honor Award. This award is granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.
