Team Philosophy At Cheshire Academy golfers focus on developing their individual game throughout the season, and their years at Cheshire Academy. Players recognize that golf is a lifetime sport, and identify at the start of the season particular goals they wish to achieve, whether it be simply lowering their score, improving their long game, or working to finesse their short game on and around the green. Practice rounds and time on the driving range also allow for important time with peer-to-peer instruction, recognizing the ongoing development of one's game.
Team History Beginning with the 2015 season, the program is pleased to once again call The Farms Country Club its home course. The club, located in nearby Wallingford, CT, was established in 1960 and the Geoffrey Cornish designed course offers a beautiful and challenging venue for our home matches and practice rounds. The team plays a Varsity schedule against our fellow CT independent prep schools, and is fortunate to play away matches at some of the best courses that Connecticut has to offer, including: Wintonbury Hills, Connecticut National, and Bulls Bridge Golf Club.
Season Outlook This year's team will be faced with the challenge of replacing three of its top match players from last year's squad. The team, however, returns numerous veteran players from last year, who alongside an infusion of new young talent look to keep the team competitive this season. The team will again consist of 10-12 coed members with the top 6 players representing the team in match play. We look forward to getting started immediately following the school's Spring Break.
